Job Description
The instructional faculty member shall have the primary responsibilities of teaching (mainly at the undergraduate level with some possibility of teaching at the graduate level), research/creative achievement, and service functions and shall be held accountable for these obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, the School, and the Department. The area of specialization is open, but teaching undergraduate research is desirable. The instructional faculty shall serve on university councils and committees as elected or appointed. The faculty will also fill the role of undergraduate Criminology and Criminal Justice Program director.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Criminal Justice or terminal degree in a related area. Teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience using Canvas. Administrative experience desireable. Some experience working within the criminal justice system is desirable.

demonstrate current knowledge of content and assist the department chair with curricular revisions and changes as requested;

support and promote the university’s SEWS program within the curriculum;
Job Duty
assist the department chair with necessary department, school or university reports/schedules as requested;

demonstrate current knowledge of content and assist the department chair with curricular revisions and changes as requested;

submit to the department chair his/her semester schedule that indicates weekly teaching assignment, office/conference hours and involvement in university, school and department councils or committees;

develop a current syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each student;
Job Duty
submit a current copy of each syllabus to the department chair by a predetermined deadline;
Job Duty
evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline;
Job Duty
requisition instructional materials and supplies through the department chair;
Job Duty
assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument for the semester as requested;
Job Duty
participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major;
Job Duty
establish and maintain the resources of the academic department, the school, and the University;
Job Duty
effectively advise assigned students in an individualized educational plan for their program of study and maintain an accurate and current academic file for each advisee;
Job Duty
explore career goals with each assigned advisee;
Job Duty
mentor students through the research process;
Job Duty
fulfill the university’s scholarship expectation through research, publication, grant development, and creative achievement;
Job Duty
participate in events that support the institution, the faculty, staff and students;
Job Duty
participate in commencement exercises;
Job Duty
attend department, school, convocation, and university faculty meetings;
Job Duty
complete required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University; and
Job Duty
perform other duties as assigned.
