Hopeful for those we support, rebellious in our approach, and collaborative by breaking down barriers, AccessHope is seeking a Senior Accountant to help us uniquely deploy the latest cancer knowledge to the places it’s needed most. As an ideal candidate, you will support the Accounting Manager in all aspects of the accounting function, such as, control of accounts and records, recording of transactions, analysis of financial data, preparation budgets, forecasts, financial statements and accounting schedules/reports, and auditing responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepares income and balance sheet statements, variance analysis, and various other accounting statements and reports.
  • Maintains transactions in ERP or QuickBooks by recording journal entries in accordance with GAAP and reconciling all balance sheet accounts to identify and correct errors in posting or coding.
  • Prepare and/or interpret complex or very complex accounting transactions and records. Analyze data in order to initiate/recommend corrective action as needed.
  • Actively identify (and close) control gaps and various deficiencies.  Examples include segregation of duty, gaps in levels of authority matrices, standardization of materiality levels utilized in day to day tasks (including flux analysis), etc.
  • Manage the close process (month and year-end). This will include (but is not limited to) monthly intercompany settlement process, customization of reports and preparation of various month end reports.
  • Use of general accounting principles and rules to create financial reports and analysis.
  • Supports annual audit, tax and sales tax preparation process and related filings by preparing requested schedules.
  • Owns AR and AP processes including uploading of customer invoices within various portals, follow up on vendor payments and maintenance of Aging reports.
  • Timely completion of month-end close processes.
  • Reconciles credit card transactions and bank accounts (including matching/uploading receipts).
  • Ensures the accuracy of the cash balances by reconciling bank account balances to the bank statements.
  • Creates requisitions and payment requests in ERP based on the needs of the organization.
  • Supports other departments with ERP inquiries and needs.
  • Monitors and maintains the general accounting inbox; conducts research as needed.
  • Works closely with parent company.
  • Establishes effective relationships and work cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Contributes to department and organization projects as assigned.
  • Analyzes monthly financial reports and records.
  • Maintains compliance by completing quarterly and annual Financial Statements timely, accurately and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Follows established AccessHope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Enhances professional growth and development by reviewing current literature, attending educational programs, workshops, and in-services.
  • Collaborates with teammates and utilizes the AccessHope on-line library.
  • Educate internal stakeholders and keep them informed on the most recent policy and process changes.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Embodies the team vision.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, mathematics, statistics, or related field; experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience.
  •   Strong communication and interpersonal, technology, organizational and analytical skills are required
  • Hands on experience with large ERP systems, preferably Peoplesoft (or similar ERP platform) and QuickBooks
  • Prior startup or healthcare experience a plus
  • Well-developed organization skills to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Must have innovative mindset in ensuring that the organization is adapting accordingly with the changing environment.
  • Able to identify and mitigate risks that could jeopardize the integrity of the financial statements.
  • Strong track record in working independently and in a team setting, under pressure, and handling multiple deadlines.
  • Strong analytical capabilities coupled with the ability to identify issues and present solutions.
  • Strong GAAP and Financial Statement knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree, MBA similar field
  • CPA
  • Startup and/or Healthcare experience; 1-year experience in public accounting firm. Startup experience a plus.
