We’re looking for an impact-driven Product Specialist to ensure that Moffitt’s digital experiences meet the needs and expectations of our patients and consumers. As part of the Digital Innovation team within the Center for Digital Health, the Product Specialist will also work closely with IT, functional, operational, and clinical leaders to help build understanding and create a common vision to evolve Moffitt’s industry-leading Digital Front Door efforts. Given the interdisciplinary nature of this role, the Product Specialist will have a high level of functional and technical expertise, as well as strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

 

The primary focus of this role will be to lead the creation, articulation, and validation of business and functional use cases for a wide range of Digital Front Door products and capabilities. The Product Specialist is responsible for gathering, documenting, and analyzing business requirements as we develop novel, human-centered digital experiences. Successful candidates are self-motivated, effective communicators who can build strong relationships with everyone from business leaders to IT partners. With a focus on robust, value-driven problem solving, the Product Specialist will have an eye for detail without losing sight of the overall mission—to keep patient and clinician needs at the forefront of everything we do.

Core Responsibilities

As a Product Specialist, you’ll work with other Moffitt team members to drive innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the consumer and the business—and that factor in value, systems dependencies and limitations, current state functionality, and operational opportunities and constraints.

 

In this role, you will also be a pivotal player in the delivery and daily operations of program components foundational to the digital strategy roadmap. By working with key stakeholders across the health system, the Product Specialist will plan and carry out discovery, analysis, and informational presentations to facilitate recommendation consensus. We’ll look to you to define problems and opportunities, establish frameworks for evaluating vendor solutions, drive us toward program implementation, and coordinate program activities.

 

 

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to…

  • Serve as a key Subject Matter Expert (SME) for key digital products and capabilities
  • Interview, investigate, and elicit requirements from a variety of stakeholders, including technical, operations, and business process owners and SMEs
  • Manage (e.g., create/write, edit, update, maintain version control) appropriate business documentation to support development needs, including Agile user stories, workflows, error matrices, gap analyses, screenshots, product training materials, product as-built documentation, and known product issues
  • Participate in high-level capability definition exercises during the project Discovery phase to aid with level of effort estimation
  • Collaborate with Journey Owners in user story development, including research and information gathering from multiple stakeholders such as business partners, experience design, and IT teams to produce actionable requirements
  • Provide ongoing consultation to development teams to clarify business requirements
  • Assist project team with various elements throughout the development lifecycle, including conducting UAT, and logging and tracking defects
  • Pivot between distilling high-level information into more detailed requirements that can be prioritized and release planned, and abstracting up from low-level information to a general understanding of the requirement
  • Partner with IT and Operations stakeholders to determine requirement implementation feasibility
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources to identify high value needs and requirement gaps—and to reconcile conflicts and requirement feasibility
  • Distinguish user requirements that are must-haves versus user requests that are not critical to development
  • Validate that the customer experience meets the customer and business requirements
  • Support on-the-fly functional adjustments due to compliance, development issues, defect resolution, etc.
Required Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, with autonomy and accountability for delivering products. This person should have the passion and courage to tackle meaningful problems in healthcare.

 

  • Education: This role is a professional occupation which requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology management, business management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in product or business analysis, product management, consulting, and/or software development environments—within or outside of healthcare
  • Demonstrable experience in writing business requirements for consumer-facing web, mobile, and/or other digital modalities
  • Extensive experience in documenting current and “to-be” state behaviors and logical workflows
  • Experience performing rapid assessments and being able to distill key themes as early as possible in an assessment process
  • High degree of proficiency with performing gap analyses and metrics and key performance indicator reviews
  • Experience in working with Agile/Scrum work environment and familiarity with writing user stories, and following the development process through user story acceptance
  • Strong digital acumen that enables articulate communication of complex digital technical concepts to non-technical and executive audiences, and of business needs to technical terms
  • Working knowledge of modern best practices for digital ecosystem architecture, including requirements necessary for digital platform and products integration and connectivity (e.g., APIs, RPA)
  • Knowledge of dev ops principles and agile processes
  • Experience articulating and driving towards key business performance metrics
  • Able to get up to speed quickly and demonstrate confidence when engaged in unknown or fast-changing situations
  • Proficiency with Visio, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to be a solid member of a cross-functional team
  • A great work ethic and sense of humor
  • Detail oriented and obsessively organized
  • Results driven, with the ability to get through roadblocks and meet project deadlines
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
  • MBA or master’s degree in a related field
  • Healthcare experience (either consulting, digital health vendor, or health system)
  • Experience in Health IT
  • Experience with mobile applications
  • Experience working with User Experience teams
