City of Hope Medical Group Seeks a Chief of Plastic Surgery
City of Hope seeks an exceptional leader to serve as the Chief of Plastic Surgery, within the highly respected Department of Surgery. City of Hope National Medical Center is a leading NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located east of Los Angeles. We serve more than 200,000 patient visits annually across more than 30 outpatient locations in Southern California, in addition to our 217-bed hospital. The Department of Surgery at City of Hope is one of the largest surgical departments in the nation, dedicated to the surgical care of cancer patients. With nearly 100 faculty, the department has 10 specialized divisions providing the full breadth of surgical care. Within the department, the Division of Plastic Surgery works closely with our oncologic surgeons, medical oncologists and other team members to provide state-of-the-art reconstruction following surgical treatment for all solid tumors. Our team offers extensive experience in complex microsurgical techniques, including a broad variety of perforator flaps and lymphovascular procedures.

The ideal candidate for this role, will be a board-certified, nationally recognized, plastic surgeon with strong leadership qualities and proven ability to grow clinical/research programs. S/He will be a highly collaborative individual with demonstrated experience and ability in faculty management, development, and mentorship. Advanced fellowship training is highly desired.

We are seeking an individual who can drive quality, financial, budgetary, compliance, and regulatory efficiencies throughout the division. S/He should also have a working understanding of EHR systems (EPIC preferred) and program development. The candidate should be able to develop the research enterprise within the division and department. Experience with extramural funding and clinical trials is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Outstanding clinician with an impeccable reputation and successful track record of high-quality clinical outcomes
  • National reputation as a physician in Plastic Surgery
  • Possess scholarly accomplishments to qualify at the rank of Associate or Professor at City of Hope
  • Previous leadership experience and/or progressive administrative/management experience in an academic medical center setting, NCI and/or national academy/society, preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent and innovative patient care
  • Demonstrated ability leading highly-trained physicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet strategic goals
  • Solid clinical or translational research background, preferred
  • High levels of integrity and honesty
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Mission focused, collaborative, adaptable, flexible to change and ability to lead teams through change
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including relationship-building, communication, listening, and negotiation diplomacy

EDUCATION, LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • M.D. OR D.O. from an accredited educational institution and boarded in respective specialty
  • Fellowship trained and boarded in plastic surgery (or the equivalent), preferred
  • Required, board certified by the American Board of Surgery
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, unrestricted medical license in the State of California

Compensation: $300,000-$600,000. The range listed is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual compensation will be adjusted for experience, training, hospital/community need and other factors.”
