Job Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator in the Division of Infectious Diseases, HIV/AIDS Program to work on a newly created program through the NIH for the SARS-CoV-2 Virus. The COVID-Prevention Network (CoVPN) is a collaboration of 3 NIAID Programs already funded through the NIH and will focus on research related to COVID-19 vaccines and monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) for preventing SARS-CoV-2. The research will further determine the vaccines individual and comparative efficacies and to reduce the medical and economic consequences of COVID-19.

Under the guidance and supervision of faculty Principal Investigators, the nurse coordinator will perform clinical and administrative functions in support of the implementation of protocols. This requires strong attention to detail to manage study participants, the ability to conduct patient visits according to protocol specifications, collection of clinical data, medical record review, completion of source documentation and clinical research forms, and reporting of adverse events. The incumbent will interact closely with the clinical research team and study participants, monitor clinical and lab data, and participate in the development and evaluation of unit policies and procedures. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. Some travel and other professional development opportunities are encouraged as part of this position. Current PA RN license is required. Prior clinical research experience preferred but not required.


Prior clinical research experience preferred. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Professional nursing licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required and must be maintained by continuing education requirements.
