Cleveland Clinic’s Jianguo Cheng lab is looking to add a Lead Research Technologist to their dedicated team of caregivers. Cleveland Clinic is known for their state-of-the-art technology and for being on the cutting edge of research. As a Lead Research Technologist, you will independently develop and design experimental studies and analyze data and information obtained from other various projects.

The ideal future caregiver is someone who:

- Has at least six years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment, which must include previous independent research positions.

- Demonstrates a strong work ethic.

-Preferably has Experience in cell culture, basic protein purification methods, cloning and protein expression.

-Has excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, performs and monitors daily project protocols. Collects, prepares and maintains required research documentation, including informed consent records, case records, clinical notes and medical reports.
  • Reports and assists with the management of protocol deviations, adverse events and other project-related issues.
  • Develops, recommends and implements changes in procedures for the various research laboratories.
  • Assists with the preparation and delivery of internal/external presentations, conference reports/lectures, and publishing submissions.
  • Potentially assists with the design, development, and writing of extramural grant proposals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Master's Degree in Biological Sciences or related.
  • Must have the ability to conduct independent research studies, and analyze and interpret data.
  • The ability to train and supervise new personnel, along with knowledge of the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment is essential -OR- Bachelor's Degree and eight years of experience.

Certifications:

  • None required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience which must include previous independent research positions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20  pounds
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
