Summary
The Center for Genome Architecture is looking for a Student Helper. We seek a highly motivated, organized, and curious student who is interested in biomedical research and learning the basics of molecular biology with the focus on comparative genomics. The ideal candidate will preferably have completed relevant coursework in genetics, and biology and corresponding laboratory courses. The position will initially be in a support role in the wet lab with an opportunity to gain more independence, and requires a person who is punctual, can maintain consistent, regular hours, takes direction well, works well with others, and is comfortable in a laboratory environment and respectful of others. This is the perfect opportunity for trainees interested in gaining wet lab experience prior to pursuing graduate, medical or veterinary school.
Job Duties
- Executes standard daily tasks within the lab (solution making and basic chemistry, media preparation, etc).
- Works with cell culture systems.
- Extracts DNA and preparing sequencing libraries for whole-genome sequencing as well as assaying nuclear architecture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
- No experience required.
