The Enterprise Data and Solution Engineering team, which is part of Analytics & Data Organization within the Chief Digital Office is responsible for the development and management of all data and analytic tools and platforms across the enterprise – from manufacturing to global product development and for all Pfizer countries. One of the team’s top priorities is the development of an enterprise data lake which will serve as the engine for the company’s digital transformation. 

Pfizer is seeking a Supply Chain Data Engineer to help realize Pfizer Digital strategy on the cloud by designing data products. This program will produce the data foundation that enables business insights through data science and enterprise solutions. You will design, architect and build upon our PGS Data Lake to develop value added data products that span the areas of Supply Chain Execution, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics etc.

The Supply Chain Data Engineer will be hands on and have abilities to lead a group of talented engineers and partner with Digital Partner(s), Enterprise Architecture, and Business Unit stakeholders to develop and sustain the PGS  data strategy and target data architecture. Data engineers also partner with solution development teams to ensure use case delivery goals while adhering to data architecture principles, guidelines, and standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Data and Solution Engineering,  the UDH Data Management Lead will adheres to the global processes defined for creation/ingestion, changes to, maintaining, and retiring data, including data ownership, data management processes, data standards and optimization for efficiency and accuracy.

  • Lead a team colleagues and contractors to fill PGS UDH and build Common Data Models by applying F.A.I.R (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles
  • Be the data management expert, engaging with leadership and other key stakeholders to drive adoption of good data management practice across the business.
  • The Data Management lead will champion and train colleagues in how to get the most from data, ensuring data is efficiently and effectively captured, processed, stored and disposed of.
  • Enable workflows to enforce approval and validation of data
  • Focused on essential data processes, governance, controls, data migration & integration, data maintenance, data quality assurance & control, and archiving
  • Capture business requirements for data management functionality that at a technology layer, can be deployed to improve business efficiency. This will include assisting in the creation and delivery of a data management systems roadmap to enable the business to maximize the potential of the use of data across the business.
  • Works with product owner, architects, analysts, data engineers and scrum to run data factory
  • Provides up-to-date documentation, descriptions, and flow diagrams, ensuring any changes to the business rules on data are documented and communicated effectively
  • Sets and monitors quality standards for data and its attributes, such as metrics and KPIs.
  • Ensures security and compliance for data are defined that adheres to privacy laws, industry regulations, and corporate compliance mandates
  • Collaborate with team to identify and act on opportunities for consistent process improvement
  • Train teams to ensure technology standards, patterns, and practices are understood and implemented by all teams and partners
  • Manage and maintain field mappings
  • Liaise with all global partners as required to define and deploy mapping and integrations between platforms
  • Ensure Data operations
  • Sets and improves SLA’s
  • Find optimizations to reduce cost of ownership
  • Architect processes to simplify compliance, processing, latency etc

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree with at five years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree with three years of relevant experience;
  • OR Associate's degree with eight years of relevant experience; OR Ph.D. with 0+ years of experience; OR 10 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to manage a data factory team, intake demand, maintain portfolio, strategize, plan, manage and execute
  • Experience in running Agile team
  • Bring innovation, agility, simplification and efficiencies for faster onboarding of data to data lake
  • Knowledge and understanding of batch, real-time data processing tools, engines and services.
  • Experienced with data preparation and ETL: Informatica, Talend, Alteryx, etc
  • Experience with Software engineering best-practices, including but not limited to version control (Git, TFS, Subversion, etc.), CI/CD (Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, etc.), automated unit testing, Dev Ops.
  • 10 or more years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: SQL, Java, Scala, C, C++, C#, Swift/Objective C, Python, or JavaScript
  • Understanding of AWS Cloud stack (EC2, S3, Redshift) or Google Cloud Platform
  • Understanding and experience of modern data platforms like (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Spark, Teradata, etc).
  • Architected end-to-end data pipelines with a cloud or on prem stack
  • Working knowledge of Biotech / Pharma experience is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer / 3+ years of experience as a Data Architect 
  • 5+ years of experience Data warehousing, data modeling, and data transformation
  • 5+ years of experience designing complex and inter - dependent data models for analytic use cases.
