Duties and Responsibilities:
- Catalog books where there is a Library of Congress cataloging record available, using international cataloging codes, metadata formats for bibliographic description, LC-PCC PSs, LCRIs, LCSH, local procedures, and appropriate reference sources.
- Catalog books where there is no Library of Congress record available but there may be records available from some other library, using international cataloging codes, metadata formats for bibliographic description, LC-PCC PSs, LCRIs, LCSH, local procedures, and appropriate reference sources.
- Catalog maps where there is acceptable copy available, using international cataloging codes, metadata formats for bibliographic description, LC-PCC PSs, LCRIs, LCSH, local procedures, and appropriate reference sources.
- Catalog a non-print format where there is acceptable copy available, using international cataloging codes, metadata formats for bibliographic description, LC-PCC PSs, LCRIs, LCSH, local procedures, and appropriate reference sources.
- Verify name, series, and uniform title headings, as needed, using the OCLC online authority file; for headings not online, determine correct form using appropriate reference sources; create local authority records for headings thus established.
- Assist with cataloging, classification, digitization and metadata activities and projects of limited duration.
- Input and revise, as warranted, bibliographic records in OCLC and the local library management system.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Analyze and edit existing bibliographic, item, and holdings records in the library management system using international cataloging codes, metadata formats for bibliographic description, and local procedures as needed; includes functions related to added copies and volumes, barcoding, and creation and updating of item and holdings records.
- Perform withdrawals of library materials; includes searching local library management system for the appropriate record, editing the bibliographic records, holdings and item records as necessary, and revising holdings in the OCLC database.
