College/Department Information
Established in the summer of 2002, the Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine (CBGM) at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) was developed to promote interdisciplinary and translational research in Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine with the ultimate goal of promoting predictive, preventive, personalized and participatory (4P) medicine. The Center's research efforts focus on two main areas: 1) discovery and validation of biomarkers for disease prediction and diagnosis, 2) pharmacomics and drug discovery for personalized medicine. CBGM is home of four internationally renowned programs in diabetes research: The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young (TEDDY), the Prospective Assessment in Newborns of Diabetes Autoimmunity (PANDA), the Diabetic Complications Consortium (DiaComp) and the Mouse Metabolic Phenotype Consortium (MMPC). Additional research programs include autoimmune diseases, transplantation, and cancer. These research programs are supported by an annual extramural funding of approximately $12 million. The center houses several state-of-the-art high throughput and high content facilities for genetics, genomics, proteomics, drug screening and bioinformatics. The center continues to recruit independent investigators with expertise in diverse disciplines such as genomics, proteomics, immunology, medicinal chemistry, drug development, biostatistics and computational biology. This multidisciplinary approach provides an avenue for investigators to interact and stimulate novel ideas.

Job Summary
Provide managerial and administrative assistance to the Director and Department Administrator. Manage budgets; review and authorize expenditures; prepare cost transfers; reconcile books with Peoplesoft reports. Trace orders. Train faculty and staff on proper procedures for ordering supplies and equipment. Initiate, authorize and review actions needed to accomplish a wide variety of administrative actions, concerning equipment purchases, travel, budget deficits, etc. Assist in logging and reconciling credit card statements.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to: Reconcile accounts with Peoplesoft reports, monitor budgets and grant status. Maintain daily balances by posting all expenditures. Knowledge of account stability in order to advise Director, Faculty and Department Administrator of budget status. Prepare monthly financial reports. Review and authorize expenditures. Monitor ordering of supplies & equipment. Liason for Accounts Payable, Sponsored Accounting, Purchasing, Vendors and Receiving Warehouse. Supervise and train personnel on proper procedures for ordering supplies and equipment. Resolve problems pertaining to purchases & contracts. Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, facility guidelines and institutional policies. Assist Department Manager in making decisions pertaining to budget balances, budget transfers and revisions. Assist faculty with grant preparation paperwork for submission to applicable sponsors. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and relevant experience OR Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and three years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, analytical and multi-tasking skills. Knowledge of accounting, Excel; including formulas and pivot tables to achieve management and understanding of large amounts of financial data. Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow written processes, use multiple databases including financial systems, to reconcile accounts and recommend solutions to discrepancies as well as continue to monitor accounts and systems ongoing.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday Pay Grade: 12Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
