The Department of Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia is committed to cutting-edge research and excellence in education. Our research addresses fundamental questions ranging from genetic, epigenetic, cellular and circuit regulation and tissue regeneration to pathophysiology of inflammaging, neurodegeneration, psychiatric disorders, and CNS injuries using a broad repertoire of experimental approaches.

Job Summary
A training position designed to carry out advanced independent research to achieve the objectives of the research project, ensuring consistency with established methodological approaches and models, adherence to project timelines and completeness of documentation. Participate in research data collection and analysis; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures. Conduct studies of related literature; write and publish articles in scientific journals. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Managing of animals (C. elegans worms). Performing behavioral tests, imaging, biochemical assays, genotyping, Generating new transgenic C., elegans strains, and assisting with general lab operation and inventory.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Experiments: Perform a variety of experimental studies including C. elegans behavior, lifespan, cell biology and molecular biology experiments. Experiments may include but not be limited to performing genotyping, microscopy, western blotting, and generating new transgenic worm strains. Analyze results of experiments and procedures using manual or computer techniques. Lab Operations: Assist with daily operation of the research laboratory, including C. elegans maintenance. Other: Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to use sound judgement and work independently. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday *Work outside of normal business hours may be required.* Pay Grade: R9Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
