Position Description
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Assessment and Evaluation Systems, the data coordinator works independently and collaboratively to support the collection, monitoring, reporting, and visualization of data to inform and contribute to an array of educational projects and initiatives in the Office of Medical Education in the M.D. program at Harvard Medical School. The data coordinator also supports standardized assessments and other Assessment and Evaluation team projects.

The responsibilities of the data coordinator include the following:
Data Coordination
  • Managing various datasets and tabulating, analyzing, and determining summary statistics;
  • Summarizing and presenting findings as reports, tables, graphs, and models;
  • Collaborating with OME faculty and senior staff to prepare OME reporting data for curriculum committee meetings;
  • Fielding data requests from diverse stakeholders across the M.D. program;
  • Coordinating data-sharing activities with programmatic stakeholders;
  • Generating reports to track progress and key outcomes;
  • Following policies and procedures for working with confidential data in compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines;
  • Responding to requests for information from institutional agents and partners;
  • Ensuring accuracy and quality control in data collection and reporting;
  • Employing existing software platforms (OASIS, CANVAS, Qualtrics, etc.) to perform necessary actions or generate/clean data;
  • Working with or learning to work with data visualization tools (Tableau, Oracle);
  • Working with or learning to work with analytical software like SPSS, SAS or R.

Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation (OSCE) Program Coordination
  • Preparing and distributing material to students and standardized patients;
  • Scheduling sessions in SimIQ (Clinical Examinations Software Platform);
  • Collecting student feedback;
  • Serving as back-up support for the OSCE Program Manager.
Basic Qualifications
4 or more years of experience. Higher education may count toward experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • College degree preferred; experience in an academic setting desired.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Interest in educational research and/or evaluation/assessment is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills; ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work independently and as a dedicated team player in a fast-paced environment; discretion with confidential information; sound judgment and follow-through.
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize assigned work against multiple deadlines and have the capacity to respond and adapt to last-minute changes.
  • Must be a quick learner, and self-starter, and possess a strong commitment to continuous process improvement.

This position is based in Boston and some in-person on-campus work will be required, and flexible/remote work is an option.
