For nearly 50 years, The University of Oklahoma Outreach, National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) has been improving the effectiveness of human services through training, capacity-building consultation, and other services.  Over the years, our resources have helped support the missions of various human service organizations in Oklahoma and across the nation.

Position Summary:  Assist the Administrative Manager with the operation and day-to-day functions of the accounting unit, perform advanced accounting functions, and serve as lead supervisor for designated employees.  

 

Duties:  

1. Supervise two staff in the accounting unit. 5%

2. Collect and analyze data and prepare financial reports as requested. 5%

3. Organize and coordinate accounting functions. 10%

4. Perform various accounting functions requiring bookkeeping and accounting procedures and techniques. 10%

5. Monitor financial transactions for pooled expenses for the department and prepare cost transfers to ensure proper allocation of expenditures and compliance with applicable regulations. 15%

6. Monitor financial transactions for payroll and prepare re-distributions to proper accounts to reflect accurate charges based on actual effort performed on projects. 15%

7. Perform multiple account reconciliations and prepare monthly business operating reports. 10%

8. Generate reliable cost information to prepare new or modified budget proposals and assist in preparing routine departmental financial analysis forecasts and the annual budget and reporting throughout the year. 5%

9. Advise on administrative practices, policies, and procedures regarding accounts, budgets, and forecasts for the department. 5%

10. Investigate problems and respond to more complex financial inquiries. 10%

11. Maintain filing systems and accounting records. 5%

12. Actively engage and participate in internal and external meetings, including but not limited to:  NRCYS Staff Meetings, Quality Improvement Committee (QIC) meetings, and Accounting Unit meetings. 5%

13. Uphold, safeguard, and engage in activities to support the University mission, NRCYS vision, mission, and values.

 

Job Requirements

Required Education:  Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field and 24 months of financial, budgeting, or accounting experience.  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.

Department Preferences (not required, but preferred):

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field and 24 months of financial, budgeting, or accounting experience. 
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the University's accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Twelve months of supervisory experience. 

Supervision:  This position supervises two Accounting Specialist positions.
