Job Description

The Tissue Core Facility at the Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join the Tissue Core Intake and Acquisition Laboratory as a Team Lead.

The Team Lead will be responsible for request management and support for the Tissue Core Intake and Acquisition Laboratory in the following ways:

  • Day-to-day supervision and support of team members and laboratory workflows.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to all areas of the section ensuring that each area of service is working as a team to deliver high quality tissue procurement and data annotation in accordance with institutional guidelines and federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Facilitates and leads complex collection and processing workflows across multiple campuses, including expansion hospitals.
  • In conjunction with the Supervisor, Staff Scientist and Director, identifies the future direction and needs of the section, prioritizes, and sets goals, and develops and implements policies and procedures for the laboratory.
  • Along with the Coordinators he/she leads, the Team lead will collect, ship, receive, process, and prepare human biospecimens in support of Cancer Center research.
  • Contribute to timely study activations.
  • Adherence to CAP accreditation and participation in inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science related field of study. Must have three years lab experience specific to core facility.  
  • Familiar with general biomedical laboratory techniques and observes biospecimen best practices for those involved with working with human biospecimens.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
