Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is located in Cost Analysis/Construction Accounting, part of the Finance & Accounting Division, and assists with all aspects of construction accounting processes, including capitalization and close-outs, funding review, tracking, accounting, reconciliation, and the financial reporting of all construction funds. The successful incumbent will coordinate with many departments across the University of Florida to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of accounting for construction projects.

Examples of Work (These are not all inclusive, nor do they cover the full extent of the duties performed):

The incumbent, ensures expenses are consistent with contractor agreements, monitors purchase order balances, reconciles project balances, and ensures expenditures are appropriate for the funding source. This includes research, preparation of analytical reports, and correction of errors. As well as preparing documentation for the capitalization of construction work in progress transactions to the asset management sub-system.

This position coordinates major construction project closeouts with appropriate departments, including UF Facilities Planning, Physical Plant, and Asset Management, reconciles project balances, verifies all transactions are posted, and prepares documentation for returning unexpended cash. In addition, the incumbent assists with ongoing tracking of additions, renovations, or remodeling and the maintenance of accounting and budgetary records for all construction projects, including the reconciliation of University records to the Department of Education.

This position assists with the preparation of annual and ad-hoc reports for internal and external distribution related to both Cost Analysis and Construction Accounting.

The incumbent is responsible for learning all aspects of Cost Analysis so that the incumbent can assist with commitment processing, review of effort reporting updates and requests for audits, and serve as a backup for the space allocation process.

EXPECTED SALARY:
$48,000 - $58,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two year of experience

Ability to work and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and customers
Understand and apply applicable University, state and federal rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to assigned areas of responsibility
Demonstrate strong analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and orally
Utilize problem solving techniques and to work independently
Proficient in Microsoft suite of technology
