Job Description

Summary

The Airways Clinical Research Center (ACRC) at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a research coordinator. The research coordinator will be responsible for the implementation and execution of clinical research protocols conducted by the ACRC. Responsibilities include participant screening and enrollment, tracking and safety monitoring, data collection, and the maintenance of study records compliant with regulatory standards.

Job Duties

  • Interview, screen and recruit patients for research studies.
  • Perform informed consent procedures, including explanation of study protocols in lay terms.
  • Perform data collection, including vital signs, anthropometry, electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG), lung function testing such as spirometry, and venipuncture (blood draw). Facilitate participants in understanding and completing study questionnaires.
  • Coordinate with patient-facing services to schedule research participants for specialized testing not done on ACRC equipment, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, or CT scans.
  • Dispense study medication.
  • Enter data into online study databases such as REDCap.
  • Collect, process, and ship biological specimens.
  • Order supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain records, documentation, and study meta-data in compliance with the study protocol and pertinent regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain relevant credentials for patient-oriented research, including CITI Program certification for Good Clinical Practice and data privacy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
