Job Description


The Gallogly College of Engineering invites applicants for a teaching-focused position in our Engineering Pathways program. This newly launched program has dedicated faculty who are passionate about teaching and mentoring engineering students early in their academic journey. The Engineering Pathways program serves all students of the Gallogly College of Engineering and our faculty have the opportunity to support and educate engineering students in meaningful ways that recognize and encourage new ways of thinking, understanding, and experiencing engineering. 




The Gallogly College of Engineering has been enjoying a period of rapid growth, increasing our faculty size by nearly 60% over the past 3 years. Our student body continues to grow with a target of 20% growth over the next five years. A key component of strategic growth has been to invest in teaching-focused faculty in Engineering Pathways and in the academic departments to provide teaching and mentorship excellence to students in the early years of their academic program. The Engineering Pathways faculty are instrumental in our student-centered plan for growth through design and participation in recruiting and retention programs that impact all disciplines across the college. 




We are seeking an additional member of the Engineering Pathways (EP) faculty team who is committed to our vision of providing all students with the opportunity and support needed to succeed in an engineering major. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellent and innovative instruction, an ethos of care and support of students, and effective mentorship and guidance of students. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the EP team, with our Gallogly Student Affairs Team, and with faculty and staff across the college towards meeting College strategic goals regarding student retention and graduation. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and mentoring of first- and second-year engineering students and to support our programs specifically designed to provide additional support for mathematics success for engineering problem-solving.  




The Gallogly College of Engineering seeks candidates who contribute to fostering a collaborative and welcoming environment in all aspects of faculty responsibility, including within the classroom, the academic community, and within their professional commitments. With about 3200 undergraduate students, our undergraduate student body is outstanding with more than 200 National Merit Scholars and more than 400 Honors students currently enrolled. 


Candidates with experience in first year engineering education and mathematics support are preferred. Candidates with an interest in educational research are welcome and will have opportunities for research collaboration with current and new faculty.

Applicants must have an earned doctorate or other terminal degree in a relevant field by the date the position starts. While the discipline for the doctorate is more flexible, applicants must specifically possess a degree in engineering, computer science, or mathematics. Candidates are also required to have experience with engineering student education through teaching and student mentoring.
