The Katherine Reese Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Department of Communication at Augusta University, responding to enrollment growth in recent years, is seeking applicants for multiple Lecturers in Communication. These are non-tenure-track faculty positions (9-month contract) with duties anticipated to begin in August 2024. The selected candidates will be expected to teach Introductory Communication and Public Speaking courses.

Responsibilities
  • Teach 8 in-person courses per year as assigned by chair. These courses will include: Fundamentals of Human Communication, Public Speaking and possible others.
  • Teach onsite dual enrollment courses located at local high schools
  • Participate in shared governance of department, college, and university as assigned


Required Qualifications

Masters of Arts in communication, journalism, mass communication, media studies, or a closely related discipline.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

-Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

-Evidence of ability as a teacher;

-Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

-Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

-Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience teaching in a college or university setting
-Earned doctorate in Communication or related field
-Qualified to teach courses such as media literacy, sports communication (including e-sports production), and podcasting.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
