Registered Nurse - Quality Review RN

THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION
The Quality Review Nurse will be responsible for ensuring quality of care through quality data abstraction and audits including identification of cases, data entry and submission; data verification and preparation of reports. Primary functions could include CMS Core Measures, National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators, HCAHPS, ORYX and other required quality data. The role will support accurate communication of quality performance through aggregation of data results for the Medical Executive Committee, Leadership, and Corporate Quality and Safety Dashboard. Support identification of performance opportunities and dissemination of clinical staff to improve the quality of care based on the dissemination of the results.
In addition the quality review nurse will assist/lead and facilitate Performance Improvement teams to assist with continuous quality improvement and patient safety concerns. Lead and assist with continuous survey readiness and participate in Joint Commission preparation. (mock tracers, policy review, etc.). Participate in compilation of data for Quality Oncology Practice Initiatives (QOPI) and other accreditation as required.

The successful candidate:

  • Abstract required information from charts for quality data collection following appropriate regulatory and organizational standards for accurate abstraction. Complete data entry, validation and submission. Concurrent and retrospective review of quality measures with education to appropriate employees when opportunities for improvement are found. Aggregate data and submit to appropriate quality committees. Create and maintain a database of found issues noted during the chart reviews both related and not related to the CMS review for trending.
  • Lead and assist with continuous survey readiness and participate in Joint Commission preparation. (mock tracers, policy review, etc.) Participate in compilation of data for Quality Oncology Practice Initiatives (QOPI) and other accreditation as required.
  • Lead and facilitate Performance Improvement teams to assist with continuous quality improvement and patient safety concerns. Leads clinical practice and quality improvement initiatives as requested, ensuring use of nursing research and evidence-based practice. Supports nursing leadership in to conduct and utilize best practices and nursing research. Utilizes evidence-based resources to achieve outcomes for core measures, NDNQI, Pay for Value, Meaningful Use, Quality dashboard.
  • Maintain relationships with medical and clinical staff to ensure compliance and ongoing performance improvement to improve the quality of care based on the abstracted data.
  • Serve as a liaison between Corporate Risk Management and onsite needs
  • Maintain hospital data submission compliance with the CMS, pay for performance, value based purchasing and other required quality / patient safety data abstraction/reporting (NDNQI). Remain updated on the multiple changes in the programs including quarterly data updates. Update staff of these changes as they become available.
  • Must be self directed with demonstrated ability to work independently and have knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid deadlines.
  • Must be able to work ONSITE M-F 7a-3p or 8a-4p or 9a-5p

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Current State Illinois Registered Nurse License

3 to 5 years’ experience in acute care nursing experience, CMS and Joint Commision experience.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $31.90 - $52.55 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
