Position Description
The Brugge lab has a long-standing interest in studying ovarian cancer using innovative techniques, with the ultimate goal to help improve treatment strategies for patients. We are looking for a highly motivated and intellectually curious research assistant to join our team. The research assistant will be working on projects that investigate the mechanisms involved in ovarian cancer therapy resistance. There are opportunities to learn standard and high-throughput, multi-plex immunofluorescence and advanced techniques involving ovarian tumor culture systems, primary patient samples, and drug response analyses. The research assistant will be directly supervised and mentored by a postdoctoral fellow. Former technicians in the lab have co-authored high-impact publications and successfully moved on to MD and/or PhD programs as well as industry positions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform immunofluorescence staining of ovarian cancers, microscopy, image analysis;
  • Carry out multiplex cyclic immunofluorescence (CyCIF) and antibody validation;
  • Carry out drug dose-response curves;
  • Perform standard molecular biology techniques, e.g., cloning, gene expression and knockdown, qRT-PCR, western blots;
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records;
  • Contribute to general lab tasks.
Basic Qualifications
College background and 1-2+ years of experience.
 
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a lab strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the following is preferred: mouse handling, cell culture, microscopy.
  • Highly motivated, good work ethic, and able to work independently and as a team.
  • Follow protocols with attention to detail.
  • Produce accurate and high-quality work.
  • Think creatively to solve problems.
  • Excellent skills in communication, organization, and time management.
  • A minimum 2-year commitment is preferred, dependent on work performance and funding.
Additional Information
This is a two-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position. 

Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.
