Job Description

National Cancer Institute-funded T32 post-doctoral research fellowships are available at the University of Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson, AZ. The T32 Program offers a multi-disciplinary mentored environment integrating behavioral to biological science research focused on cancer disparities and understanding and preventing cancer. The traineeship provides preparation for an individual who wishes to pursue an independent academic research career in cancer health disparities that contribute to decreases in cancer morbidity and mortality in underserved populations. The trainee will work with established investigators and will be expected to engage in a research project; develop research proposals; produce two to three publications per year; and work with a multidisciplinary team. Competitive stipend and health benefits included.

This distinctive geographic location along with our strong community ties, university partnerships, CPC postdoctoral training history, and university infrastructure and resources uniquely position us to continue to expand the next generation of diverse CPC researchers focused on reducing health disparities and working with underserved communities.

The UA Cancer Center T32 program has a dedicated support staff person who works with prospective applicants during the application period and orients new Fellows around opportunities related to CPC-relevant grants and workshops, University of Arizona coursework, travel support, completing Individual Development Plans, and building a mentorship team. She facilitates weekly health disparity training for T32 Fellows on topics such as grant writing and management, NIH Biosketch development, and library and pre-award resources, and also leads regular writing workshops.
