Emory Law welcomes qualified, future-focused information technology professionals to apply for its Director of Information Technology position. The chosen candidate will lead the information technology department. Working collaboratively and proactively with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders, the chosen candidate will continue to improve IT systems within the school while strategically balancing day-to-day operations with long-term planning. As a subject matter expert on information technology, the Director is knowledgeable of accreditation standards, university policy, and best practices while creating solutions, working cross functionally, and providing support to internal and external constituents. This position requires strong organizational and time-management skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly in a detailed-oriented environment. The organizational structure of the school of law includes a chief business officer to whom this position reports as well as several direct reports and student employees.



JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lead information technology operations for the school of law and its facilities inclusive of non-school events hosted within the school facilities.
Establish and administer a budget contemplating information technology needs, upgrades, useful life, and future needs.
Serve as a technical expert within the school while supervising and mentoring staff who support various operating systems or platforms (such as Unix, NT, Novell, Solaris, Oracle, MVS and/or VMS).
Utilize knowledge of various operating environments to provide effective leadership.
Oversee the administration of and access to organization-wide data, the information system, and hardware/software connectivity at the direction of and in consultation with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) for Emory University.
Design and implement specific projects at the request of the dean or the chief business officer.
Perform related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree,
Seven years of related work experience which includes the design and implementation of highly complex information systems on multiple platforms, and
Previous supervisory, leadership or management experience.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered for all factors but supervisory experience.


PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

Familiarity with project management methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum, may be beneficial.
Experience in budget planning, cost control, and financial management is important.
Solid understanding of current and emerging technologies is important.
Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders, articulate the value of IT initiatives and foster effective communication within their team.
ITIL certification such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
Experience providing information technology services in a professional or graduate school, and
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle various projects with attention to detail in a deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Possess a team-oriented mindset with demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and senior administration.
TO APPLY:

The hiring process includes first round zoom interviews and final round in-person interviews. We anticipate the interviews in late May and early June.
The position will ideally start in July.
