Job Description Summary:

To assist in coordinating and developing Austin Community College’s Office of Student Life’s social media community, promoting positive brand awareness and strategic engagement opportunities and administrative support where applicable..

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Provide office and administrative support to Student Life personnel.

  • Works with Student Life staff to manage the department’s social media presence.

  • Attends campus activities and events to capture live social media content and optimize promotional opportunities for the college.

  • Engages and builds Student Life's presence amongst the ACC community by driving brand awareness and growing ACC Student Life’s reach to its diverse audiences. 

  • Assists in maintaining the ACC Student Life social media content calendar for all major platforms, curating and posting to each channel, following best practice guidelines. 

  • Coordinates live conversations on platforms to facilitate engaging, two-way conversations.  

  • Assists in creating original and engaging social media content that fits ACC Student Life’s mission and vision statement. 

  • Tracks emerging trends, communities, and platforms and recommends engagement where relevant for the department and college.

  • Suggests content optimization to gain new followers and provides a baseline for better engagement. 

  • Conceptualizes new ways to increase ACC Student Life awareness and user engagement (tabling, account takeovers, giveaway campaigns, design contests, etc).

  • Utilizes organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

  • Office procedures and practices.

  • Customer service techniques.

  • Knowledge of managing major social media platforms, including but not limited to — Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

  • Familiarity and working knowledge of social media efficiency tools.

  • Demonstrate effective customer service and communication techniques. 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in using current social media platforms, scheduling tools, graphic design applications, standard word processing, databases, virtual platforms (such as Google Meet and Zoom), and presentation software.

  • Maintaining an adaptive & cooperative work schedule 

  • Represent Student Life with professionalism and diplomacy 

  • Work is routinely performed in a hybrid environment

Technology Skills

  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.

  • Use social media platforms, work with desktop publishing, and update web pages.

Required Work Experience

  • One year of related work experience, which may include paid or unpaid internships.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Reliable Transportation.

  • Driving between ACC Campus locations will be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in a standard office or similar environment.

  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.

  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.

Safety

  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
