City of Hope Medical Center Radiation Oncology is seeking a full-time, Board-Certified (or Board-eligible) Senior Medical Physicist at our beautiful, sunny Southern California academic campus in Duarte. The successful applicant will be part of a growing team of 20 Medical Physicists at both our Duarte and Irvine campuses. City of Hope is a private, non-profit clinical research center, hospital, and graduate school in Southern California, providing high quality cancer care across four (4) states. Receiving its NCI designation in 1981, City of Hope is committed to providing comprehensive cancer care and its status as a leading cancer center (ranked #8 in the US by the US New Best Hospital for Cancer in 2023-2024). The Duarte and Irvine campuses are equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies including 1 Reflexion, 1 MRIdian, 2 Ethos, 1 Radixact, 1Tomotherapy, 3 TrueBeam, 1 TrueBeam STX and 2 Flexitron HDR. As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Direct CT simulation, study transfer to treatment planning systems, structure contouring, dose calculation, determine and verify machine settings, ensure accurate data transfer to record and verify system.

Research Duties:

  • Maintain currency in radiation physics through continuing medical education and familiarity with the relevant literature.
  • Participate in the experimental design, data collection, and data analysis in radiation physics research.
  • Publish results of experiments in peer-reviewed journals.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist Director with planning and implementing Radiation Physics Policies and Procedures and protocols.
  • Assure smooth operation with the clinical physics and dosimetry group and maintain good communication among physicians, physicists, dosimetrists and therapists.
  • Assume the administrative responsibilities of the Director in their absence.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Doctorate (Ph.D.)
  • 5 years clinical experience in Radiation Physics
  • ABR or ACMP in therapeutic radiological physics or eligibility plus certification within 2 years of hire

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $106.63 - $170.61 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
