Lead the Code Red dance team with the understanding that the primary purpose of the squad is to support the athletics department and serve as ambassadors for Ball State University. The position will also be responsible for prospecting youth spirit squads for home event performances. The dance team will promote school spirit at various sporting events and appearances by motivating, inspiring and entertaining Cardinal fans.
Ball State University is seeking an individual to lead the Code Red Dance Team.
Job Function:
Lead the Code Red dance team with the understanding that the primary purpose of the squad is to support the athletics department and serve as ambassadors for Ball State University. The position will also be responsible for prospecting youth spirit squads for home event performances. The dance team will promote school spirit at various sporting events and appearances by motivating, inspiring and entertaining Cardinal fans.
Minimum Education:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent in experience.
Preferred Education:
Bachelors degree.
Minimum Experience:
Demonstrate leadership experience with a youth, prep, college or pro dance program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be present at all football and men’s basketball games and develop plan for coverage at other specified sporting events.
- Oversee academic progress and enhancement of squad members.
- Work with athletic administration on budgetary and fundraising matters while always being mindful of the fiduciary responsibility this position demands.
- Travel with squad to select athletics road competitions, including but not limited to MAC and postseason basketball tournaments, bowl games, etc.
- Collaborate with athletic staff to develop in-game entertainment scripts.
- Responsible for prospecting youth spirit squads for sold, on-campus performances.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Serve as the head coach for the Ball State Code Red dance team (One program).
- Select and provide supervision of potential assistant coach position(s).
- Organize and lead all team practices and workouts.
- Coordinate instruction of squad, routines used on gameday, in community and at potential competitions.
