Job Details:The School of Medicine on the Savannah, Georgia campus is searching for a Research Assistant. This position will start on July 1st or later.
Responsibilities:
The goal of research projects led by the principal investigator (PI) Dr. Sarah Rotschafer is to understand the causes of abnormal auditory processing in fragile X syndrome. The incumbent will provide research support to projects led by the PI; apply research skills and laboratory knowledge to follow or adapt protocols and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the research; design and implement research protocols with the PI.
Qualifications:
The Research Assistant I position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and some research experience.
The Research Assistant II position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and a minimum of one year of related research experience.
The Research Assistant III position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field and three years of related research experience of which some of that time must be in a lead role or a related master's degree from an accredited college/university and one year of relevant research experience of which some of that time must be in a lead role.
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt for Research Assistant I
Exempt for Research Assistant II or III
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to learn and perform immunolabeling, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, cryosectioning, and tissue preparation.
Ability to learn and perform animal experiments, including injections, terminal surgery and organ processing, etc.
Ability to analyze experimental data and formulate initial conclusions.
