Job Profile Summary
The Mental Health Therapist provides professional standards and clinical practice while providing direct counseling to College students.
Minimum Education:
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Two years of related experience.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
- Must possess State of Florida licensure: Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Clinical/Professional Counselor (LCPC or LPC).
- Certificate in Clinical Supervision training for Continuing Education Units
Essential Functions:
- Daily - 35%: Provides counseling and mental health services to students enrolled at the college. Services may include but are not limited to: assessment; individual and group counseling; brief solution-focused support; trauma response; crisis intervention; advocacy; outreach and psycho education; referral services; liaison activities; consultation with faculty, staff, families, and others regarding mental health related issues and management of students with mental health needs.
- Daily - 15%: Provides training, programming and educational resources to the campus community, including action planning and prevention services.
- Other - 10%: Maintains timely and professional written communication in record keeping, emails, and reports.
- Other - 10%: Refers students to relevant campus and community resources.
- Other - 10%: Strictly honors the confidentiality, privacy, and security of student records and other sensitive information according to state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Other - 10%: Responsible for people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff, and staff development.
- Other - 5%: Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
- Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.

- In-depth knowledge and hands on expertise in area of specialization and related areas of the College, and pertinent interdependencies

- Proven expertise in executing operational plans, managing projects and/or programs, budgeting, cost control and delivery of results
- In-depth managerial and team building skills, and demonstrated ability to motivate and empower direct and indirect reports to achieve area priorities
- Ability to partner with others across the College and externally to exchange information, collaborate on projects, share resources, etc.
