Job Summary
Serves at various levels in support of software related initiatives from inception to implementation and support. Through in-depth knowledge of the business, this position will document business processes, leads fit/gap analysis, develop needs analysis, document functional and technical specifications, perform system and user testing and use acceptance testing, and effectively communicate analysis to customer and project team. Incumbent will coordinate with customers to plan, design, develop and launch efficient internal business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects and systems requirements. Generates and complies reports based on the findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. Incumbent will apply proven professional communication, analytical and problem-solving skills when writing and communicating with leadership, customer, staff members and vendors.
Responsibilities
Job Duties /Responsibilities - 20
Production Support: Provide end user application support through monitoring support tickets; Provide problem determination and resolution on functional and Technical issues; Consult with programmers, database administrators, and systems administrator as required to resolve issues; Participate in user group and vendor meetings; Act as one of the primary liaisons with the University System Office support of their delivered systems; Support customer for all State, Federal and Data Warehousing regulations; Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve date issues; Support end user ad hoc report request by providing design, development and testing of reports using various query tools and Crystal Reports. Serve as primary liaison between ITS and the business units for all Enterprise Systems.
Utilization - 25
Change Management: Utilize the ITS Change Management System to record and manage user requests for enhancements, system modifications and production support; Participate in routine change review meetings locally, with vendors and the University System Office; Utilize designated tracking systems or monitor system changes compared to business processes with a goal of identifying where improvements can be made; and, record all expended effort in the change management system or in the appropriate project tracking system; Provide Design Deficiency Reports (DDR) for tracking system deficiencies for vendors who do not have a formal support system.
System Modification - 20
System Modifications, Enhancements and Upgrades : Participate in the definition and design of application modifications; Create and maintain test plans in a way that, over time, complete system test plans are developed in a reusable format; Assist in monitoring release notifications from application vendors and the University System Office; Provide content/information and analysis for pre-release and release notifications; Participate in testing and certifying software releases and upgrades by developing test plans for new features locally developed & special use cases; Conduct system testing through the combination of locally developed & supplied test plans; and act as the primary user department liaison as they certify releases.
Business Process Review - 10
Participate in and facilitate Business Process Review sessional with a goal of better utilization of systems and streamlining daily operations; Monitor systems in relation to customers business processes and provide tested suggestions for business process improvements or changes in system utilization to improve operations.
Projects - 10
Assist in compiling and developing functional specifications and defining user requirements, if not provided by a vendor; Participate as team lead when assigned; Follow project guidelines when participation in project assigned tasks; Monitor and maintain all project schedule tasks as assigned and participate in development of project plans by attending Work Breakdown Structure meetings;Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with project timelines and task target dates.
Team Participation - 10
Assist junior level analysts with issues to ensure they gain required knowledge of applications, standards, operations, and capabilities. Make suggestions for improvements to team policies, processes and procedures in relation to system utilization and customer service. Provide application specific training to ensure cross-training and complete understanding of each assigned application by other Business Systems Analysts as required.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related IT field of study, and 6 years of experience in a relevant field of work with at least 4 years of experience in using a system in a relevant functional area running enterprise-wide business, research, and/or academic applications and providing technical expertise.
OR two years of higher education in a technical area with 8 years of experience in a relevant field of work with at least 4 years of experience in using a system in a relevant functional area and providing technical expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
SQL or SQL Plus and Crystal Reports experience. Experience in supporting/implementing an enterprise software application such as: Banner, API Healthcare from inception to implementation to production is preferred and Facilities type software (Archibus, Parking systems, etc.).
Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field. - Demonstrated record of innovation and success in providing research technology services aligned with University goals, with extensive knowledge of the activities, processes, resources, and technologies involved in research technology management and leadership. - Academic health center experience or related healthcare, biomedical, basic science research experience.
Desirable Qualifications
1)Experience with implementation of vendor-provided, enterprise-level, application systems such as Banner and Oracle RDBMS environment
2) Experience with HTML, Java/JSP, PL/SQL, Pro*C, SQL, Python, API
3) Experience implementing or developing application systems using formalized project management methodlogy
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills -

3. Skill in dealing with a variety of personalities while working to accomplish a detailed and technical task.
4. Experience either directly performing the business operations through the use of an automated information system or in a technology support role.
5. Experience assisting users with troubleshooting information system applications
6. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required.
7. Knowledge of documentation needs and techniques
8. Knowledge of data mapping techniques
9. Technical understanding of relational databases and knowledge in how to read/write SQL Selects
10. Ability to conduct and evaluate systems testing
