The Communication Department seeks to hire a per-course faculty member to teach Comm 312, Interpersonal Communication, in the Summer of 2025.
This course will be taught online. Summer session one begins on June 2 and ends on June 27 (Junteenth holiday observed on June 19, no class).

Course Description
Upper-level course treating major theories and concepts in interpersonal communication. Lecture, discussion, readings and activities integrating concepts such as nonverbal communication, listening, intimate relationships, family relationships, interracial relationships, conflict management, forgiveness, negotiation, gender, perception and self-concept, technology's role in communication, as well as relationship development, maintenance, struggles and termination.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a graduate degree (PhD or equivalent preferred) in Communication or related field with evidenced teaching experience. The position requires a familiarity with and commitment to the Communication field, student-centered teaching, and a liberal arts education, as well as an appreciation of and respect for the social justice oriented learning/teaching environment St. Mary's fosters as a Lasallian educational institution. Professional experience working in an intercultural setting is desired, and extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a terminal degree.
Candidates must reside in California.
Salary: $7,447 - $10,308 dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
