Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the activities of electronic mechanics involved in construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair projects to university buildings, equipment, and facilities to ensure compliance with established programs, standards, and procedures.
- Prepare cost estimates and material requisitions for projects and renovations; inspect work in process and completed work to ensure efficiency of operations and adherence to cost estimate.
- Assign and review work, orient and train staff, and make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including, but not limited, to interviewing and selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career development of personnel.
- Monitor and enforce all safety, shop, and university rules and regulations and report problems to the Superintendent of Building Maintenance and resolve problems appropriately.
- Coordinate with users and/or departments to determine project requirements; maintain liaison with all parties involved to discuss any modifications and facilitate the resolution of project problems; review and recommend changes and modifications to blueprints and/or job specifications as appropriate.
- Monitor work order to completion of project/work to ensure that labor, supplies, and materials are charged to the appropriate work order; add change orders to original work order when additional work is requested and approved.
- Update, maintain, and train workers on various job related chemicals, environmental and safety concerns, and MSDS/OSHA regulations; maintain a working knowledge and awareness of all Environmental Health and Safety programs.
- Plan, develop, write, and implement various preventative maintenance programs when appropriate; set up programs using a work order system and monitor for conformance; monitor reports generated from system regarding backlog of work, repeat work, etc.; propose changes in assignment and staffing as necessary.
- Prepare reports, setting forth analyses, progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations and/or conclusions regarding maintenance and construction projects; use personal computer to generate reports and analysis with spreadsheet, word processing, and work order software.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the activities of Key Control which includes keys, cores, and electronic access.
- Manage the maintenance of all elevators and lifts including supervision of maintenance service contracts, state inspections, and keeping annual and 5-year inspections current.
