Summary
The Texas Children's Cancer Center Program is seeking a Manager, Research Operations tooversee, manage, and lead day-to-day research operations to ensure that current and long-term business
goals are met.
The candidate will provide program and project management support for clinical and research operations supporting Oncology research programs and cell and gene therapy, contribute to the implementation of activities and programs to ensure all required objectives and goals are met, and oversee or originate special projects or programs.
Job Duties
Program Operation/Leadership 65% (Research Ops)
- Alongside the Assistant Director Cancer Center, leads daily operational and program and project management activities for Oncology/BMT sections.
- Leads faculty and staff hiring process and promotions, management of faculty effort (CART), and supervision of 2-3 BCM Coordinators.
- Partners with the Director and Oncology administrator on annual research budget planning.
- Manages fiscal year effort and planning administration for Pedi Brain Tumor (10), AICT (7), EPI (9), CGT (7), Oncology research only faculty (8) and staff (20+).
- Compiles and helps monitor effort planning, S4 Budget oversight, position management, capital projects, and operational planning, TCH restricted fund analysis and monitoring/controlling for research programs.
- Participates in touchpoint meetings with the Oncology & BMT research operations coordinators and bi-weekly/monthly meetings with leadership.
- Develops staffing plans, defines work responsibilities and prioritization, sets performance and development plans, and conducts annual performance evaluations in partnership with supported faculty.
- Collaborates with cross-departmental teams to ensure smooth research operations for PBT, AICT, EPI, CGT.
- Approves all BCM financial transactions submitted via Jaggaer, Concur, and other BCM systems.
- Develops and implements research administration procedures.
- Mentors/Trains senior/junior staff on clinical and research administration workflows (Effort planning, restricted funds management).
- Identifies areas for improvement in research administration workflows.
- Oversee work objectives for senior coordinators on project timelines and operational goals.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Reporting and Analysis (25%)
- Generates administrative reports and data analysis (Power BI, PEPT, S4).
- Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) related to administrative functions (Research Template development, l business case planning, and Dashboard reports for productivity).
- Identifies areas for improvement based on data insights.
Project Coordination (10%)
- Ensures the ongoing review and development of process improvements to maximize business productivity.
- Sets goals and expectations for project team around goals, timeliness, and work breakdown structures.
- Develops standard operating procedures, implementation guides, and policy and procedures for project governance for 41 Oncology programs and CGT/BMT.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in arelated field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4-6 years of relevant experience including experience managing academic or industrial operational projects.
- Research administration experience.
- Budget/financial management experience.
