Job Description

Primary Purpose of Position
The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on Nursing Leadership. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment accreditation-related procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to: (i) establish and sustain a strong externally-funded research program in their field of expertise; (ii) produce an excellent record of scholarly publications; (iii) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses to undergraduate and graduate courses; (iv) teach courses in community health and other non-clinical courses in nursing, advise/coach students, engage in a program of scholarship (including publishing in peer reviewed journals and securing research funding) and provide service to the School of Nursing; and (v) provide service to the SON, the college and university as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.

This is a 9-month, tenure-track position requiring a Ph.D.

The School of Nursing at North Carolina A&T was founded in 1953. With two additional programs added to the school: health communications and health services management, the School of Nursing has now become the School of Nursing and Health Services. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has traditional, accelerated, and RN-BSN entry options. The nursing program is a partner in the Union Square Campus, a key initiative of Opportunity Greensboro. Union Square is a 103,000 square foot state-of-the-art healthcare simulation center. Fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing, the nursing program at North Carolina A&T boasts high NCLEX pass rates and is poised for graduate education.
Minimum Requirements
(1)A doctoral degree is required. If the doctoral degree is in a field related to but other than nursing, the applicant must have a graduate degree in nursing.
(2)Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs or credentials to meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing educational requirement is required.
(3)Record of funded research and publications expected of rank as an Assistant Professor.
(4)Unrestricted license to practice in North Carolina at the time of appointment is required.
(5)Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
(6)Meet the requirements for teaching at the baccalaureate level as prescribed by the governing body.
