Job Overview
The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for multiple full-time tenure-track faculty positions in the Mechanical Engineering Program.



Candidates in two broad areas in mechanical engineering will be considered: (1) Mechanics –experimental, theoretical, and/or computational mechanics. Areas of interest include but are not limited to fracture, inelasticity, energy materials, soft materials, and bio-mechanics. (2) Vibrations and Acoustics – areas of interest include smart materials and structures, vibration and noise control, metamaterials, nonlinear dynamics, rotor dynamics, MEMS/NEMS, structural health monitoring, and biomedical acoustics.

Essential Functions
Teach graduate and undergraduate engineering courses specific to their specialty areas (as noted above) and participate in course and curriculum development.
Develop externally funded research programs in their specialty areas (as noted above), publish research results in professional journals, and advise graduate and undergraduate students.
Participate in professional service activities such as editorial/peer review, serving on departmental, college and university committees, and performing outreach activities such as speaking at recruiting events, hosting lab tours, helping with summer camps, etc.
Minimum Requirements
Prior to the effective date of appointment, a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
