The University of Texas Permian Basin's College of Education welcomes applications for the position of a Tenure-track Open-rank Professor of Counseling

Salary Range
$60,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Open Rank Professor of Counseling supports the Department of Counseling through high-quality teaching, research, and service. This tenure-track role contributes to rapidly growing master's programs in Mental Health and School Counseling that are supported by donor funding and strong partnerships with local schools and mental health agencies. The faculty member will prepare students for professional counseling practice, supervise clinical fieldwork, maintain an active research agenda, engage with community partners, and support the University's mission to develop well-prepared counseling professionals.
1. Teach graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Counseling program.
2. Supervise students in clinical and field experiences.
3. Maintain a teaching load of 9 credit hours each fall and spring semester.
4. Conduct scholarly research and disseminate findings through presentations and publications.
5. Seek external funding to support scholarly activities.
6. Perform service to the University, the counseling profession, and the community.

Required Qualifications
1. Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from an accredited university.
2. Licensed Professional Counselor and/or certified School Counselor, or eligibility for licensure in Texas.
3. Minimum three years of counseling experience in U.S. public schools and/or professional counseling settings.
4. Experience teaching counselor education courses through distance education and Learning Management Systems.
5. Membership in professional counseling organizations (e.g., ACA, ACES, or state equivalents).
6. Record of scholarly work or demonstrated potential for research productivity.
7. Eligibility to supervise master's-level clinical fieldwork.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Terminal degree in Counselor Education and Supervision.
2. Credentials in clinical mental health counseling and/or school counseling.
3. Experience teaching a wide range of graduate counseling courses.
4. Experience supervising practicum and internship students.
5. Experience using evidence-based counseling practices and innovative technology.
6. Record of professional conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
7. Experience securing external funding or participating in grant-funded projects.
8. Experience teaching in online, hybrid, and traditional modalities.
9. Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, students, and community populations.
10. Strong oral and written communication skills.
11. Ability to work collaboratively on cross-disciplinary teams.
12. Commitment to student growth and development.
13. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
14. Ability to accept and provide constructive feedback.

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Faculty hours may differ based on class schedule and department need.

Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
6. Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation.
