Job DescriptionThis position exists to operate and maintain the central utility plant in order to produce and distribute campus utilities consisting of high-pressure steam, central chilled water, and emergency electrical loads. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all equipment related to the production of these utilities, providing a safe and comfortable environment for all campus functions. This position works in accordance with all regulations adapted by the State of Minnesota pertaining to Minnesota State Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and the State of Minnesota Engineering Codes and Regulations.
This position has been designated as weather and emergency essential. In the event of a short-term University closure or emergency event, incumbent is required to report to work and respond as requested. Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a valid First-Class Engineer’s B grade license or higher as required by the Minnesota State Division of Boiler Inspection.
Preferred Qualification
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Five years of experience in a related field
Demonstrated ability to keep and maintain records and logs and write reports
Demonstrated, thorough knowledge of all boiler and pressure vessel codes as adopted by the State of Minnesota and OSHA, and other recognized safety practices.
Ability to understand, discuss, and carryout written and verbal communication with the Chief Engineer pertaining to Utility Plant Problems.
Other Requirements
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

This position requires a valid, applicable driver’s license, as well as a DVS records check with an acceptable rating. Employees must have an active, valid, and, applicable driver’s license if they drive a vehicle on state business.
