Summary
Job Purpose
Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
Job Duties
- Learn and apply basic translational research techniques under supervision
- Assist with general laboratory tasks, including tissue processing and tissue culture
- Perform nucleic acid extraction and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) procedures
- Support flow cytometry and immunophenotyping activities
- Assist with laboratory research projects as needed
- Conduct literature searches related to research studies
- Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets for data tracking
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations to summarize research findings or activities
- May assists with special projects/programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school student, undergraduate, or graduate student with an interest in research
- Interest in laboratory-based or biomedical research
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques and scientific concepts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory protocols
- Interest in cancer research or translational science preferred
