AsNuclearMedicine Technologist, you willutilizethe latestmedical equipmentand technologytoattainfunctional images,prepareand administer radiopharmaceuticals,and performvariousnon-imagingstudiesas necessary. In addition to working with complex apparatus,you willalso spend a substantial amount of timeinteracting directly withboth in- and outpatients, providing injections and scans.This role offers an excellent way to enhance your current skillsets, gain extensive hands-onexperienceand make a difference in the lives of patients every day.
APRNcaregiver in this position worksvarying hours|on-call,weekendand holidayrequirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform elution of 99mTc generators, prepareradiopharmaceuticalsand ensure compliance with regulations and recommendations by state/federal regulatory and accreditation agencies.
Perform hot lab responsibilities,such aselutionof generator according to prescribed procedure and manufacturer specifications using aseptic technique.
Performelutequality control using aseptictechnique.
Perform radiopharmaceuticals kit preparations and quality control according to departmental procedure and manufacturer specifications using aseptic techniques.
Label and record required documentation according to department procedures.
Administer radiopharmaceuticals according to department protocol using aseptictechniquein compliance with state/federal regulations and accreditation agencies.
Ascertain correct patient,studyand radiopharmaceuticals by checking patient ID,requisitionsand radiopharmaceuticals label prior to radiopharmaceutical administration.
Properly record pharmaceuticals.
Educate patientsregardingprocedures,equipmentandexamsto ensure understanding and cooperation.
Ensure patient safety during and afterexams.
Assistwith scheduling patients as needed.
Perform venipuncture as necessary andmaintaincompetencies.
Performquality control and assurance procedures.
Perform daily, weekly,quarterlyand annual procedures on dose calibrators, scintillation well counter and thyroid probes,andscintillation cameras.
Identify,documentand reportsub-optimum results to supervisor.
Adhere toDepartmentof Health, TJC, and department regulations governing performance ofaboveprocedures.
Maintainrequired record keeping and documentation for all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Acquire, archive,transmitand print images via PACS.
Completeafter-hourstransmission of images andappropriate paperwork.
Process billing via RIS.
Perform nuclear imaging/counting procedures according to department protocols and computer acquisition and analysis.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sDegree inNuclearMedicineorgraduate of a two-year accredited school in anAlliedHealthProgramorcertification from a CAHEA approved Nuclear Medicine TechnologistTrainingProgram
Registered Technologist credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists[R.T(N) (ARRT)]in good standing OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through theNuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
Current state licensure(RL)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
- Requires exposure to radioactive material.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $48.00
Maximum hourly: $48.00
