Description of Work
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) in Lincoln, NE seeks a Mental Health Counselor.
The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing psychologically informed diagnostic services, treatment, consultation, and education to meet the emotional, educational, and developmental needs of students at UNL. More specific duties include: providing individual, group and relationship counseling and psychotherapy, including developing and implementing comprehensive treatment plans specific to client needs, goals, and outcomes; providing mental health consultations and emergency services, including emergency response and/or debriefing, with students, families, faculty, and/or staff; conducting on-campus trainings, presentations, workshops, and classroom presentations related to CAPS services and mental health needs/issues; maintaining client case records and completing case notes in a timely manner; providing support for department and university initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or related therapeutic field (or foreign equivalent).

Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related multi-disciplinary psychological setting. Other special requirements include: Two (2) years of experience providing counseling and psychotherapy in a comprehensive counseling center at a college or university; and two (2) years of experience consulting and presenting educational programs related to educational, developmental, and mental health issues. Must be licensed as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (“LMHP”) issued by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
