As aRadiationTherapist, you willimplementprescribedtreatmentsto patients with various forms of cancer.Radiation is administered in therapeutic doses and can send certain localized forms of cancer into remission. It can also be used to prevent the recurrence of particularly malignant forms of cancer after they have been removed during surgery.In this role, your work is an essentialelement of our innovative care plandesignedtoaidthecancer fighting journey.Every day, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and their families, allwhilegaining hands-on experience in a technologically advanced and fast-paced healthcare environment.
A caregiver in this position worksPRN (as needed) variable shifts.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide therapeutic and patient care services to deliver radiation therapyas prescribed bya physician.
- Determineand deliverappropriate patienttreatmentplansin collaboration with physician and dosimetrist.
- Monitor and document patient's condition,reportany adverse reactions.
- Assess andeducatepatients according to specific department protocols.
- Position patients andselectanatomic/technical parameters accurately.
- Check andadjustnecessary equipment, including linear accelerator.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate of a CAHEA approved School of Radiation Therapy technology or registry eligible
- Board certified Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in good standing
- Current state licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
- Experience withRadiationOncologyandspecific electronic medical records
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Experience withExternalRadiationTherapy, IMRT, IGRT andCTSimulation
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting.
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs. Ability to push/pull over 100 lbs. Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions.
- Safe Operating Procedure for x-ray generating equipment.
- Ability to work the hours of operation - flexible. Ability to take "call" on weekdays and weekends based on a rotational schedule.
- Ability to float to other CCHS facilities when needed.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
