Position OverviewThe University of Kansas seeks a Functional Systems Analyst Senior to contribute to the mission of supporting our Financial Management Systems within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position will be responsible for overseeing the functionality, configuration, and continuous improvement of KU's Concur Travel and Expense system. This role requires a deep understanding of system operations, business processes, and technical integration to ensure optimal performance and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned management system modules, specifically Concur, providing specialized knowledge and guidance to stakeholders.
Analyze business processes to identify management systems applications and requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Document and communicate programming and system configuration requirements to technical teams and end users.
Set up and maintain system configurations and security access profiles, ensuring proper permissions and compliance.
Coordinate application module updates, upgrades, and migrations with technical resources to support uninterrupted operations.
Develop test scripts, execute tests of system functionality, identify processing issues, evaluate root causes, and recommend timely solutions.
Create and modify queries and reports for users, responding to requests for information and supporting data-driven decision making.
Continuously monitor system processes to ensure successful completion of transactions and address any anomalies.
Provide ongoing maintenance and support for Concur system modules, resolving issues and optimizing performance.
Investigate and evaluate new system functionality for potential enhancements to user experience and operational efficiency.
Develop and/or present training materials; coach users on system functionality and best practices as needed.
May supervise staff, providing leadership, guidance, and performance management support.
The successful candidate will be resourceful, have a customer-service focus and will have financial systems support experience working within a complex organization. They must thrive in a fast-paced environment and work well with minimum supervision.

Job Description
40% - Provide ongoing maintenance and support as-the subject matter expert of specific financial system modules. Communicate with FMS team, IT and end users to ensure appropriate configuration and security within the financial system. Ensure the business processes are consistent with system functionality. Continuous monitoring of financial processes to ensure successful completion of posted transactions in financial system. Monitor tables to validate successful processing. May develop and/or present training materials and coach users on system functionality. Create and modify queries and reports for users as requested. Respond to user inquiries.
35% - Identify processing issues within the financial management system. Evaluate for cause of problem; identify use cases, create test scripts and test possible solutions in order to resolve such problems in an orderly, timely and accurate manner to allow for continuous and uninterrupted processing of information in the financial system. Create functional design documents, communicate with developers for possible solutions and/or request assistance and make the recommendation to approve migrations and fixes to financial system as needed.
20% - Coordinate with FMS leadership to solve problems and/or improve system functionality- may include upgrades/implementations. Analyze business processes to identify management systems requirements by working with Business Process owners. Document and communicate requirements and related functional designs to IT and FMS Leadership. Design use cases and draft test scripts for testing of upgrades, service packs, enhancements and new financial system projects. Submit results and recommendations to FMS Leadership for desired changes and migrations to production system as needed. Prepare documentation for testing and training materials used by departmental staff to train university users.
5% - Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in business, management, computer science, information systems and three (3) years relevant work experience OR high school diploma and five (5) years of relevant experience
Three (3) years' experience in accounting/auditing using automated financial systems
Three (3) years' experience with MS Office software including Outlook, Word and Excel as demonstrated in application materials.
Three (3) years' experience using analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, as demonstrated in application materials
Three (3) years' experience that required attention to detail, as demonstrated in application materials
Three (3) years' experience that required initiative and working independently, as demonstrated in application materials
