What Your Job Will Be Like:

Are you passionate about your work and want to join a dynamic team that solves challenging issues for our nation's security? If so, the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) Radiation Protection (RP)

Organization is seeking a Quality Systems Professional for the RP Quality and Compliance team (4612). This role supports Group 4610 and the functional Mission spaces of the Sandia Radiation Protection Program (RPP) Quality and Compliance group.

The candidate selected for this Quality Systems Professional role will provide leadership and direction to the Sandia corporate Radiation Protection Program.

On any given day, you may be called upon to:

  • Direct and supervise the implementation of the quality programs across the RPP.
  • Define, describe, and interpret the basic elements of RPP quality systems, including design, planning, assurance, control, documentation, and improvement.
  • Translate requirements (e.g., contractual, regulatory) into RP quality management system related processes, tools, and practices.
  • Provide advisement to RP personnel in the appropriate application of quality-related DOE regulations and orders as well as SNL policy.
  • Provide advisement to RP management on RP-related quality assurance and control issues.
  • Direct and perform quality assurance, causal analysis, corrective action development, and preventive action development services.
  • Analyze, identify, and track trends in data to detect areas of risk and systemic issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Apply methods, tools, and techniques to design, maintain and improve products and processes.
  • Lead RP Quality Team meetings.
  • Lead RP quality-related projects and working groups (WGs).
  • Author and maintain quality-related procedures and processes.
  • Perform radiation protection compliance verification functions.

Work is fast-paced, and assignments may change frequently in response to RP customer and organization needs. Some travel may be required. Activities include working with or in the presence of

hazardous materials. Potential hazards include, but are not limited to, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, safety hazards, biological hazards, noise, and ergonomic hazards. Candidate must have the ability to occasionally work a modified schedule to meet customer needs and travel.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM.

Salary Range:

$87,400 - $168,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor¿s degree in Quality Assurance, Quality Management, physical science, engineering, or another relevant technical field, plus five (5) years or more years of directly related experience. Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in quality assurance/quality management, assessments or auditing, compliance, corrective action management, process improvement, quality requirements implementation, or other closely-related work.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Demonstrated experience with implementation of ISO 17025 and/or ISO 9001 requirements in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience providing dedicated quality management services in a DOE operational radiation protection program.
  • Demonstrated experience working to 10 CFR 835 and/or 10 CFR 20 radiation protection regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience applying quality assurance requirements and principles, including applicable DOE regulations, Orders, directives, consensus standards, and organizational quality

requirements (e.g., 10 CFR 830, DOE O 414.1).

  • Proven track-record of excellent organizational and individual leadership skills with the ability to effectively work and interact effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to work effectively independently, and in team situations in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced research and development environment.
  • Active DOE Q-level security clearance.

About Our Team:

The Radiation Protection Organization provides radiation protection support services to Sandia line organizations and is the steward of the corporate Radiation Protection Program. Services provided

include:

  • Translation of DOE directives and federal requirements into Sandia-specific requirements and guidance.
  • Development and implementation of policy, procedures, and tools to assist in the identification and control of hazards associated with the use of radioactive materials and radiation-generating

devices.

  • Training and qualification of Sandia personnel to execute radiological work operations throughout the Laboratories.
  • Radiological surveys, workplace sampling, and monitoring services to ensure effectiveness of radiological controls.

The Organization works with the corporate Radiation Protection Safety Committee to establish goals, measure performance, and perform assessments to collect data to support continuous

improvement in the safe execution of radiological operations.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
